How long can entrenched Syria cabal murmur impotent conciliations while using big stick against human rights?

From what I read unlike in Egypt the Syrian army officers support the ruling dictatorship and Syria is also receiving support from Iran. It could be a long time before we see any change in government in Syria just as in Iran and Saudi Arabia. Some rulers really don't mind to kill a lot of civilians in order to hold on to power.
