Favorite zucchini and summer squash recipe misplaced?

Last year I found, in one of my magazines, the best zucchini/squash recipe I have ever tasted. I remember first you sliced the zucchini and squash. The first layer alternately placed slices in a on 8x10 cerole dish. Second layer was sliced onion then I believe grated cheese. Continue layering till squash in gone. There was no soups or liquids added. I believe it was finished off with bread crumbs and baked. No precooking was involved. I remember how moist it was with so few ingredients. I thought it was a Paula Deen recipe but can't find it on her site. If anyone has this recipe, I would certainly appreciate a copy. Thanks
